Mediamatic Lab maakt een nieuwe museale toepassing met de ikPod, een combinatie van een iPod en een RFID reader. De ikPod maakt een koppeling tussen met RFID getagde objecten en filmpjes, audio en andere online informatie. De ikPod wordt gebruikt bij de Mediamatic tentoonstellingen en voor bijvoorbeeld de Hollandsche Schouwburg / Joods Historisch Museum.
De ikPod werd in 2009 - 2010 ontwikkeld en getest door Mediamatic Lab i.s.m. Bernardo Gaeiras. Met dank aan Cabfablab, het fablab in de Cabellero fabriek in Den Haag voor het helpen met het maken van de 3D ikPod 'positieve' mal.

Here the white/greenish positive mould that was printed at the CabFabLab in The Hague is used for moulding a yellow 'negative' mould.

Four negative moulds were casted of Polyurethane in order to prepare 4 ikPods at a time.

The ipod was mounted on the side of the mold with double-sided mounting foil so when it comes out of the mold, there is a layer of plastic on top of the foil, but once you remove the foil from the screen of the ipod and from the activating red button you get a clean polyurethane-free surface.
