Anymeta Release 25 Aug 2010

Release 4.14.11

The newest version of Anymeta contains improvements in both frontend and backend. For users that work with Internet Explorer there are some interesting fixes related to images on the website. A few styling changes give a better look to often used parts of the website. Of course this update also improves working with the Open-CI network.

(The numbers behind the updates are numbers that we assign to a fix. They are used for our reference only.)

Open-CI

  • We've added a user interface for discovering and adding an article from an other sistersite to a local blog. Editors can import blogs from other Open-CI sites, instead of copying them piece by piece. Look on the right side of the edit page of a blog for this interface. You can past the URL of an article in the input field. These URL's can be from sistersites of the blog (#6986)
  • Importing edges for authoritative things has been improved. By importing these edges correctly they aren't created as a new edge on another site. That could lead to not displaying certain info that was linked to the original thing (#7018)

Frontend

  • We added a datepicker for filling in date of birth for persons or users (#7005). With this we also made sure that when adding a date of birth, it should not automatically fill in the current date (#7007)
  • The returning notice that appeared when you found 1000+ results on map has been removed (#6992)
  • In Internet Explorer (IE) the selection box in the dialog turns red after a negative validation. With this it's more clear if a user forgets to fill in a box (#6852)
  • Parsing a date now shows an 24 hour clock instead of an 12 hour clock. Most of the users are more used to a 24 hour clock. (#7011)
  • We cleaned up and fixed several things in the chapeau of list items and detailed view. Cleaning up (#7008)

Styling

  • The Open-CI was too low in comparison with the name and image of an user or thing where it belongs to (#6999)
  • A separator has been added between the event address and the number of comments (#7004)
  • There is a new horizontal styling of central search form to give it a more clear look. All the options for searching are on one row. Previously these options were vertically aligned showing the results on the right (see images below) (#6990)

Backend

  • To improve our weekly update process we now perform a flush of the cache and static library with minor updates too. New website versions are implemented more effective and issues related to updates are less likely arise (#6703)
  • We checked the list with the overview of Admintools for incorrect links. They now redirect to the correspondent modules correctly (#6755)

Other

  • We investigated an uncommon issue related to trust inheritance. When a user had no view rights for a thing, but did have edit rights, the latter overruled the first trust level. We built in a check to prevent this rarely seen phenomenon (#6989)
  • A fix for imagetools in IE7 and IE8. When the image zoom button is present, it was overlaying the image tag button. Also, when you clicked one of these buttons was clicked, the browser was redirected to the attachment page. This has been resolved for both versions of IE (#7000)
  • When an user was not logged in and added a comment, the spinner keeps showing to indicate that the page was loading. This is now removed when the dialog with the login flow has opened. (#6793)
