Event and calendar
Users quickly enter and promote events with the Event and Calendar Module. In addition to clear event listings, the calendar features filters to browse large sets of events, related events and events shared across organizations.
How does it work?
Contributors add event details through a simple dialog-based wizard including start and end times, the location (to be displayed on a map) and event details. Events are listed in a searchable calendar. When a user clicks on a particular event they see both the complete listed and related items that might be of interest.
Use Case
Francesco and Nina run a community site for artists
Francesco and Nina work for a foundation that promotes environmental action in Europe. Part of their mission is to make political actions more visible to the broader community. As such, they feature events prominently on their site. Under Calendar in their main navigation they decide to have two calendars. One shows the foundation's event and a curated list. The other is an open calendar. Members of the site can promote their events here.
Lyla is an activist and prankster planning an event. She would like to draw members of the public to take part in this event. She visits the website and clicks on calendar. Lyla navigates to the "Open Calendar". Noting similar events already listed on the site, she confidently clicks on "Add Event". A dialog box opens. She enters the event information in a few small dialog pages one page asks for time and place, another for a name and description and finally an optional picture for the listing. After entering the information, Lyla sees the event appear in the calendar.
Over the next few weeks she gets several notifications that people are planning on coming to her event. She starts preparing for it more intensely.
