Placing an image on the website

Put your own design, your photo or another image on the site

Read here about how to place an image as a single item on the site, or as part of an article. Articles and events always appear more attractive when they include an image.

Placing an image in an article or event

  • Click 'Edit this page'.
  • Go to the camera icon and click 'Add an image'.
  • Now, there are several ways to add a picture. Click 'Browse' if you want to select an image from your own computer. Place the image directly on the page with the 'Add' button.
  • You can move the image to a different place on the page if you want. Keep the right-click on your mouse on the image pressed down and move the mouse over the page.
  • Click 'Save this page' to save the image.

Tagging people in an image and adding other information

  • The image has its own page you can access by clicking on its title. First click on 'Edit this page'. Now you can add extra information about the photograph. You can select an author by clicking the button 'author' or 'Who made this picture?'.
  • With 'Where was this picture taken?' you can select an event, organisation or location where the picture was taken (not possible on all anyMeta sites).
  • By clicking Visible for:// in the menu bar at the top you can control the visibility of your image, in case you don't want everyone to see it. If you are the creator of the image, you can attach specific rights to it by clicking on 'copyright'//. By selecting one of the Creative Commons options, you make clear to other people whether or not they may use your image.
  • When there are people on the image it is fun to tag them; click on the person in the image to enter their name. It connects them to the picture.
  • Click 'Save this page' to save your changes.

Adding an image that is already on the website, on another website, or with your webcam

  • First click on 'Edit this page' and then click the photo icon 'Add an image'.
  • When you click 'More options' it is possible to select an image from another website, or to add an image that is already located elsewhere on the site. You can also take a photograph with a web cam by clicking 'Take snapshot'. By clicking 'Add', you can place the image on your page.
  • Give the image a clear title. By clicking '+ caption' or '+ short introduction' you can enter additional information about the image. When using an image you found on another website, it is important to name the source.
  • * Click 'Save this page' to save your image.

Putting a single image on the site

  • To add an image to the website, go to 'New contribution' in the menu bar at the top of the page.
  • Click '+ image'. You are now creating a page for your image. Start by entering a title and then click 'Create'.

  • By clicking '+ caption' you can enter additional information about the image, such as its source.
  • With the button '+ author' or '+ Who made this picture?' you can select the person that made the image. You may be mentioned as the author at the top of the page automatically. If you want to remove yourself as author, click the red cross.
  • With 'Where was this picture taken?' you can select an event, organisation or location where the picture was taken. Select the event, organisation or location by use of the search field.
