The first Doors of Perception Conference was conceived by the Netherlands Design Institute and Mediamatic to attract 150 attendees at a two day meeting in the Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum auditorium. Soon it appeared that more were interested, and the RAI convention center was chosen as a new gathering site. October 30 nearly 700 attendees registered, from 20 countries.
