A preview of scheduled events, new book- and cd- releases

Transmediale 99. Artists, creative people and producers engaged in video, television or multimedia who will present their works at the Transmediale 99 from 12th to 21st February 1999. The Transmediale, one of the biggest and most renowned international festivals for electronic and digital media is taking place alongside the Berliner Filmfestspiele. Every year, the transmediale serves as a meeting point for artists, professionals from other disciplines andspectators who are not only art consumers but also active or interactive figures trying out their multimedia projects. Mediamatic in Baby, zondag 7 februari 1999: Pieter van der Ploeg (NCRV) vertelt over "Het Rechte Pad", een on-line avontuur waarbij je zelf een karakter samenstelt dat een leven gaat leiden in de echte wereld. Het is de bedoeling je personage op het rechte pad houden, terwijl je de nodige morele problemen voor de kiezen krijgt. Sander van Dijk (ESTEC) onthult plannen voor Earth Views, een visualisatie van de reis van Lunarsat, die een baan rond de maan zal beschrijven. Tot slot presenteren Paul Groot en de groep Sex, Pixels en Love HTML het project Art Y Net; digitale kunst voor de internetzuilen tussen Amsterdam CS en het Kenniseiland.
Locatie Sociëteit BABY, aanvang 16.00, entree f 15,-. From 5 - 9 May 1999 the 12th European Media Art Festival will take place in Osnabrück. Dedicated to artistic experiment, the festival has an open policy with room for projects ranging from process-based experiments and technological innovation to dexterous crossovers between the media and genres. For five stimulating days, this international forum for contemporary media art brings together filmmakers, multimedia and performance artists, theorists, journalists and the interested public.
