Mediamatic Workshops 99/00

Basic Ideas The workshops take interactivity as the main aspect new media contributed to the exisiting media field. The logic of digital interactivity and the integration of text, (moving) images and sound are mainly experimental areas. New media's own language is still in the beginning of its evolution. It is the goal of these workshops to develop this new language further.
The series of workshops is called Designing Behaviour. It consists of three workshops which take place two times a year. The workshops approach interactivity from the themes Rhythm & Timing, Space, and Narrative Structures. In the context of interactive media these principals raise new questions, that will be investigated in relation to older media as well.

Dutch The workshopRhythm & Timing explores interactivity as it relates to time. The workshop the Playing Field considers the interplay between the user and space. The workshop Interactive Narrators delves into the specific organisation of narrative elements in interactive stories. The intention of the workshops is NOT to learn how to make a Webpage.
